Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins is the final book in The Hunger Games Trilogy. Protagonist Katniss Everdeen learns of great secrets about her country Panem while she learns she was in the middle of a plot that will change Panem forever. As Katniss pushes through many challenges, she has to decide what is right, who to trust, and how to protect her family and friends.
Throughout the book Katniss must become someone who she doesn’t believe she is while dealing with changes in her life and learning her purpose. When her loved ones are in danger, she must act strong, which allows the reader to see a vulnerable side of Katniss.
Mockingjay explores themes of loss, struggle, and isolation as characters develop into people who can make change. This book stays interesting with many plot twists and a good pace. All of these aspects come together to make a groundbreaking novel, that ends the trilogy in a memorable way.
