Samsung vs Apple. The constantly debated topic. Apple devices have longevity and better security, but Samsung has better hardware, capable of many more features related to this technology. Samsung recently came out with a new phone, and it is the topic of the month for all tech YouTubers. I myself had at least 15 reviews of the S10 pop up in my YouTube feed. So let’s talk about it. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this “Next generation” product?

The two versions of this phone (S10 and S10+) are similar, besides two points. The S10 has a bigger screen (93% screen to body ratio), and a better front facing camera (8MP). The rest of the phone is mainly the same. There are many features that come with this shiny new $749 phone. One of those features is a hole punch display. The hole punch display allows for there to be more screen real estate on the phone. The amount of screen to body ratio that is achieved on this phone is incomparable to many other mainstream phones on the current market. In addition to this, there is new in-display fingerprint sensor technology that is available to use on these new phones. Of course, you can decide to use a password, if you judge that the fingerprint sensor is too finicky or slow, which many people do. The fingerprint technology is not perfected and therefore is not as good as the traditional fingerprint sensors you might find on many previous models. One of the other features that sets this phone apart from the rest of the market is power share. Power share is a technology that was available in the past on other Android phones, but Samsung has now made this technology mainstream. This technology allows for the back of the phone to act as a wireless charger, able to charge other phones that are capable of wireless charging. Samsung claims this technology changes the way people look at charging.

There are also some new software features in the S10 and S10+. Samsung has now made its “own” software, which is based off of previous Android softwares. Lots of people say, this is the thing that Samsung was missing with their previous generation phones. The new technology is much more clean and a much better fit with the phone. This truly shapes how people consider buying this phone. A main reason people did not buy previous generations of Samsung phones were because they had software that was just a polished version of Android. This new software changes the way people use the phone. One hand use is easier and more comfortable compared to previous Samsung models.

There is also a much cheaper version of the S10 and S10+. The S10e is the base model of the Samsung S10 lineup. The S10e starts at $749 and is the cheapest version of the S10 lineup. This phone comes with a 5.8 inch screen. This smaller version phone comes complete with the only difference being the back facing camera. The back facing camera does not have a wide lense camera, something that some people may not need unless they are doing intense photography. I hope this review and information helped you find out what you need to know for your S10 purchase.

See you next time!
