Downtown Manhattan has many sights to offer, including the World Trade Center, the Brooklyn Bridge, and City Hall. But some downtown locations, often overlooked, are the numerous beautiful parks. From Hudson River Park on the West Side to Imagination Playground just south of the seaport, parks dot our neighborhood’s landscape with green and offer great views, activities, and picnic spots to anybody passing by. But one stands out from them all, and before it gets too cold, make sure to stop by the park that has it all: The Battery. This beautiful, historic park is filled with interactive things to do. Seaglass, a carousel designed entirely around the idea of fish and the ocean, is no ordinary ride. Instead of going around in a circle the fish go in and out of the center and spin as well. Castle Clinton, a historic Dutch fort from the 1600s, is at great place to look out on the water and learn about the history of New York. The Battery is jam-packed with fun ways to spend your day. Also, the park includes memorials to both the Korean War and Franklin Roosevelt. Because it is at the southern tip of Manhattan, there is easy access to both the East Side and the West Side. I hope you will take time to venture into the park and discover all of its sights.
