Restaurant Review- Beaubourg (Pronounced Bo-bor)
Order: East & West Oysters (Dozen) $36, Steak Frites (Medium Rare) $38, Chickpea & Orzo Salad $10, Sautéed Baby Spinach $11
Trying to find a

nearby restaurant to celebrate my dad’s birthday, we came across Beaubourg. We were greeted by welcoming staff and sat in the outside area of the restaurant as we wanted to breathe in some fresh air—or something like that. The atmosphere was just wonderful, the waiter would come over and joke around with us, the string of lights contrasting with the night sky, the sound of people laughing and having a good time was something just wonderful.
Getting into the food, when considering the price for the two dishes, a special event —such as a birthday—suits this restaurant. However, that’s not stopping you from going whenever you want! I just wanted to start off by saying how the food truly exceeded my standards.
The oysters came first, I’ve had oysters before, but this time I was nervous. The presentation with the oysters in a circular formation, surrounding condiments all laid on top of ice in a metal dome was least to say, intimidating. In order to season the oyster and to, at the same time, preserve the original flavor, a few drops of lemon and some of the added condiments —which I assume was a blend of tomato and herbs—was delicious. The oysters were all fresh and tasted equal. It was overall great, simple and pleasing.
Onto the steak, there is something that I have to say first. There are times when I go to restaurants, even steakhouses, the concept of Medium Rare seems new to the chef. Often they come back with a medium to a medium-well cooked steak; although I may be too harsh, when you’re paying upwards of $40 for a slab of meat, it better be close to perfect. So how did Beaubourg do? They hit the bullseye! The steak was not only cooked to a perfect medium rare, the melting butter infused with herbs made each bite have a refreshing taste. The fries on the side were, well, fries on the side.
The side dishes, Chickpea & Orzo Salad and the Sautéed Baby Spinach, to sum it up, boring. It is a fair argument to say that calling spinach and chickpea salad boring is obvious and doesn’t require extra explanation, but come on!
As a final word, I’ve only scratched the surface of Beaubourg, and I’ll definitely consider coming back for any upcoming special events!
