Do you ever think about what goes on in our school’s main office? Its seeming tranquility with soft classical music humming in the background of Principal Terri Ruyter’s meetings, the quiet activity of parents signing their kids out of school early and the low buzz of people asking questions of the Parent Coordinator, Sabrina Wiese, just scratch the surface of what goes on in the complicated, busy office at the center of 276.

A few steps in, the sounds of computers typing and phones ringing come into earshot. When asked, Enrollment Secretary Erica Weldon stated that the office handles a multitude of things. As soon as Erica finished speaking, a phone call came in from a parent discussing admission to the school for their child. Soon after, Erica began putting student metrocards for middle schoolers into the computer system.

Another force behind the office, Head of Payroll & Purchasing, Veronica Imbornone, said that she does everything from managing attendance to purchasing pencils and books. “We’re all working hard and we’re all busy working,” she stated with a grin of pride.

In the end, one thing is definite about the main office and the persistent people that work there: 276 would not be how it is today without it.
